I was asked this a while ago and immediately replied to my client.
You get:
- Joomla core patching and security updates installed
- Extension updates with new features and security patches
- Daily, Weekly or Monthly backups stored in the cloud for safekeeping
- Help with questions
- Scans for malware
- Up-time monitoring
With routine maintenance services, I am available for helping with posting issues that occur from time to time. Adding posts if necessary and updating what's already online.
The most important thing you can do to a CMS website, such as Joomla or WordPress is to install the latest system core update. These updates usually fix some type of vulnerability found within the code running the site. Preventing issues before they happen is one of my guiding principles.
Then next step to take with maintaining a site s to keep the added extension up to date. The extension developers are in step with the Joomla coders. If Joomla makes a code change that may affect an extension those coders will release an update shortly after Joomla.
Of course, BACKUPS must be done before each change so the site can be rolled back to the state it was in before any changes. If there is an issue with functionality the fastest way to get up and running again is by restoring your site. Depending on which plan fits your budget or needs will determine the frequency of the backups.
One major item, peace of mind. Knowing that your site will be taken care of while you are taking care of your business.
